Private Prison to Replace Warden, Assistant Warden

Posted by Nathaniel Hoffman on Wed, Mar 17, 2010 at 2:59 PM

Corrections Corporation of America, the private company that runs the Idaho Correctional Center near Kuna, is replacing the top two leaders at the institution in the wake of a $155 million lawsuit the ACLU filed last week.

According to a memo sent to Idaho Department of Corrections staff this morning, the department supports the change and will have veto power over the new warden and assistant warden.

The Department monitors the contract for private operation of the facility with three monitors and has offered to assist CCA with any Department staff experts required to make a smooth and
safe transition to new leadership. These actions are consistent with the Department’s mission of
protecting the safety of offenders, facility staff and the public. — From IDOC Memo
