Yet Another Air Quality Alert

Posted By on Mon, Jul 12, 2010 at 8:07 AM

It's day number six of a yellow (moderate) air quality alert for the Treasure Valley. Children, the elderly and those with lung and heart conditions need to know that the Department of Environmental Quality is forecasting an air quality index of 64 for ozone.

Meanwhile, the high winds, low humidity and very dry conditions are also resulting in a red flag warning for potential fire danger in Southwest Idaho. Two fires near the Magic Valley town of Bliss, have burned thousands of acres since Saturday's lightning storms. The so-called Windmill Fire has burned a little less than 3,000 acres around several of the region's windmills. The clover fire has burned another 2,000 acres north of Bliss.

Bureau of Land Management firefighters expect to contain both by noon today (Monday).
