If it's Wednesday, the glass must be half empty. In the latest survey of the job market, Idaho ranks near the bottom when it comes to employment prospects. The Gallup Organization has released its Job Creation Index, tracking January to June of this year: Idaho is the sixth worst in the United States.
Gallup asked those who are employed whether their companies would expand the size of their labor force, not change the size of the workforce or lay off employees and reduce their workforce. Their measurement is something called the Job Creation Indicator.
Idaho's is -1.
Simply put, it represents the difference between the percentage reporting an expansion and the percentage reporting a reduction in their workforce.
Worst in the nation: Nevada, followed by Connecticut and Rhode Island. Gallup says the best job markets are North Dakota, District of Columbia, Alaska, Texas and South Dakota.

This doesn't ring true for me. I realize this is anecdotal but in May I got offered two jobs. I don't know anyone around the country who can say the same. And in more populated areas like California, one job opens up and thousands apply. I wonder if the rest of the state throws off Boise's numbers.
I have been out of work for 6 months. That's the longest I've ever gone. Last week on Career Builder on line there were 48 jobs in Meridian when there use to be hundreds. Our current administration kept talking about how many people were losing their insurance. Well, they lost their insurance because they were losing their jobs, you elected idiots. I'm going to move to Mexico, sneak back illegally and then MAYBE, I can find work.
LoL Elvisian,
In the Wood River, job postings have been between 12 and 16 a week for a year now.
Mostly administration jobs at that.
