"It Should Come As No Surprise ..."

"I will vote no," Republican U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo told Citydesk, referring to the confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court of the United States. Idaho's Junior Sen. Jim Risch wasted no time in echoing Crapo's sentiment.

"Nothing has changed. Her actions and comments lead me to believe she will approach the position of associate justice as a political activist," said Risch.

"I'm very concerned about her views on the Second Amendment," said Crapo. "She does not have a commitment to a strong and broad right to bear arms."

Kagan is expected to easily pass the Senate vote later this week, with a majority of Democrats' support joined by at least five Republican senators (Collins, Graham, Gregg, Lugar and Snowe).

Kagan would become the fourth woman on the high court, succeeding retired Justice John Paul Stevens.
