Medicaid Problem "Massive, Pervasive and Fundamental"

Posted By on Tue, Aug 3, 2010 at 12:10 PM

Since BW's report on the Medicaid mess, things have gone from bad to worse.

The Idaho Medical Association, representing thousands of physicians, has fired off a letter to Dick Armstrong, director of Health and Welfare, that characterizes the reimbursement problem as "massive." The IMA has sent a similar letter to Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter.

BW has obtained a copy of the letter:

It calls for an immediate return to the former claims processing system "until such time that the massive problems ... can be appropriately addressed."

Health and Welfare spokesmen say going back isn't an option, but they and Medicaid administrator Molina, are "working on solutions."
