Boise Marine Remembered as Husband, Father

Posted By on Thu, Sep 2, 2010 at 3:48 PM

"Afghanistan didn't know how lucky it was to have a man like that step foot on their soil."

That's part of a statement released by the family of Lance Cpl. Cody Roberts of Boise. Roberts was killed Sept. 1 as a result of a "hostile incident" while supporting combat operations in Helmand province of southwest Afghanistan.

Roberts was a 2006 graduate of Centennial High School. He joined the Marines four years ago but was on his first deployment to Afghanistan when he was killed.

His family requested privacy, but did relay their thoughts through the Idaho National guard and Company C, Fourth Tank Battalion, Fourth Marine Division.

"As an amazing Marine, husband and father, he was a true hero."

He's survived by a wife and child.
