Dangerous Discount

A Nampa man who said he was responding to a Craigslist ad for an iPad was robbed at gunpoint Monday night.

The man said he had exchanged several e-mails with a "seller," and it was agreed to meet on Lakeharbor Lane just off of State Street in Boise Monday evening. And of course, it was going to be a cash transaction.

The victim said when he arrived, a young man walked toward him, but when the "seller" got a few feet away, two other men quickly showed up, both carrying handguns. They took the victim's cash and cell phone

Boise police suggest when buying items over Craigslist or other Internet sites, bring another person along when buying from an unknown seller, meet in a crowded public place, and keep records of the seller's name, phone number and e-mail address.
