The year is only a few days old, and it's already a pretty good bet that there will be no horse racing at the fairgrounds, again.
Ada County Commissioners have been informed by Idaho Entertainment of the company's desire to terminate its lease agreement for the horse racing facility located on the Expo Idaho property. A horse race hasn't been run there since 2008, when the facility was called Les Bois Park. Since then Idaho Entertainment has been trying to hammer out an agreement with the Idaho Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, the group designated by the Idaho State Racing Commission as the horsemen's representative. But they've all been stuck at the gate.
"It's extremely disappointing," said Rick Yzaguirre, Ada County Commissioner. "Unfortunately, it appears that horse racing will again be delayed."
