Micron Executive: No Spike in Growth or Reduction

Idaho lawmakers have spent the better part of a day and a half listening to government analysts paint a not-so-rosey picture of Idaho's economy. It's part of an important exercise where the bi-partisan Economic Outlook and Revenue Assessment Committee tries to craft a forecast for 2011-2012.

Friday morning, legislators heard from one of the Gem State's largest private employers. Boise-based Micron ended fiscal year 2010 with $2.9 billion in cash and investments, up from $1.5 billion a year ago.

"It was the best annual revenue and net income in the history of our company," Mike Reynoldson, Micron's government affairs manager, told the committee.

"Looking forward, I think you're going to see steady employment," said Reynoldson. "Not necessarily a spike in growth, but not in reduction either."

Reynoldson said Micron currently has approximately 5,500 employees in Idaho.
