Hundreds of Mountain Home Air Force Base airmen, members of the 366th Fighter Wing, have been deployed to combat zones as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Southwest Asia. Operation Enduring Freedom is the official moniker used by the Pentagon for the war in Afghanistan.

Aircrews will conduct F-15E air support missions, delivering combat air power alongside the 399th Fighter Squadron.

"This is why we exist and what we train for everyday," said Col. Ron Buckley, 366th Fighter Wing commander. "To maintain air superiority, protect our ground forces and provide combat power for our nation to any location in the world whenever we are called upon."

More than 400 airmen and ground support are part of the deployment from Mountain Home.
