Boise Public Works Proposes Sewer Fee Increase

Posted By on Tue, May 24, 2011 at 11:03 AM

When the Boise City Council gavels in this afternoon, members will consider a proposed increase in sewer connection fees. The Public Works Commission staff are recommending a 5 percent hike in treatment and trunk fees for a single-family residence to connect to the city's sewer system. All in, the city could increase capital revenue by $110,000 in Fiscal Year 2012.

A fiscal analysis from public works indicated that trunk fees could have increased 6 percent and treatment fees for a single-family dwelling could have bumped up more than 15 percent.

"In consideration of current economic conditions, staff is recommending a 5 percent increase," said the report.

If approved, treatment fees for a single-family residence could increase from $1,850 to $1,940, and trunk fees could go up from $1,400 to $1,470, effective Aug. 1.

The proposed ordinance gets its first reading at this afternoon's council session.
