More than 270 million Yahoo users are expected to be moved over to the Internet giant's new email servers during the next few weeks.
Yahoo Inc. announced Tuesday that it will overhaul its system to enable updates to Facebook and Twitter accounts to be posted from within Yahoo's email boxes. Yahoo also promises that its new service will be twice as fast when sending attachments of up to 100 megabytes. Other enhancements are expected to include better junk-mail controls and the ability to chat with friends logged into Facebook.
Through April, Yahoo claimed 277 million email users worldwide, losing some of its customers over the past year to Gmail, which has grown to 220 million worldwide users.
