Back to Negotiating Table for 17 Idaho Wind Projects

Posted By on Wed, Jun 8, 2011 at 11:05 AM

It's back to the negotiating table for 17 wind projects, in varying development stages across Idaho, to determine what rates they can charge Gem State utilities. The Idaho Public Utilities Commission ruled today that developers of 12 Idaho Power Company wind projects and five Rocky Mountain Power projects will not be eligible for previously published rates, presumably more attractive to developers than renegotiated rates.

"If we allow the current trend to continue, customers may be forced to pay for resources at an inflated rate," ruled the commission. "This is clearly not in the public interest."

Affected parties include the so-called Cottrel projects near Burley, the Murphy wind projects, Rainbow Ranch projects near Declo, the Grouse Creek projects south of the City of Rocks, and the Cedar Creek projects southeast of Shelley.
