Pfc. Andrew Holmes of Boise, accused of war crimes while stationed in Afghanistan, has been granted a conditional pre-trial release from his confinement at Joint Base Lewis-McChord outside of Seattle. Holmes was granted the release late Thursday, requiring him to wear an electronic ankle bracelet and to not leave the state of Washington.

Holmes' court martial trial was scheduled to begin in July, but has now been postponed until September. Due to the delay, Holmes was granted the pre-trial release.

Holmes is alleged to have participated in the killing of an Afghan civilian on Jan. 15 in the small village of La Mohammad Kalay. He's also accused of possessing body parts and photographs taken with civilian corpses.
