The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that OWL Charter Academy is shutting down. Officials at the Nampa school said they couldn't end their first year with a balanced budget, so they will not be reopening in September.
Nampa School District trustees voted June 14 to begin a process to revoke the school's charter for financial insolvency. District officials said they're prepared to absorb most of OWL Charter's students. The school had reported an enrollment of 180 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
At the June meeting of the Nampa School District, OWL was projected to be between $70,000 and $105,000 in debt.
