There will be a second memorial service for slain University of Idaho student Katy Benoit in Moscow today at the university's administration building auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Benoit, a U of I student set to begin her first year of graduate school, was shot and killed in late August by former Professor Ernesto Bustamante, who then took his own life.
An initial memorial was held for Benoit in Boise on Aug. 30, when many gathered to morn the loss of the 22-year-old. The memorial today will give students, faculty, family and friends of the victim in north Idaho an opportunity to do the same.
Her mother, Janet Benoit, posted the following message on Facebook:
"Our daughter and sister, Katy Benoit, was a light! Full of fun, ideas, opinions and wisdom, she loved and was loved. We will miss her. We are deeply touched by each and every person and the communities of Boise and Moscow for all the support that we have received."
