While the national media covers (or offers limited to no coverage?) the Occupy Wall Street movement in the streets of New York, grassroots off-shoot demonstrations have sprung up across the country.
"We are the 99 percent that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1 percent," reads the movement's website.
Friday night's Boise meeting was meant to devise a means of supporting the national movement at the local level.
Boise's own OccupyBOI met Friday in the Gene Harris bandshell in Julia Davis Park, drawing a crowd of roughly 150. The group called the meeting, what they said would be the first of many, a General Assembly for planning. Behind the speakers were posters with lists of goals, weaknesses and plans of action.
