In January BW visited a small but successful health clinic in the Adams County town of Council, serving a community with an uninsured rate of 50 percent. The success of the clinic led some in the region to consider duplicating the efforts in Valley County, where, by all accounts, the need was just as great.
This past week, a new free clinic in the Valley County town of Cascade opened with little fanfare. The McCall Star News reports that the clinic does not use tax dollars but serves local adults with no insurance of means to pay. Through a partnership with a local pharmacy patients can receive generic drugs at no cost.
