This Thursday, Boise's Parks and Recreation Commission will be updated on the city's off-leash pilot program in seven parks. The one-year-pilot project was launched April 11 at Castle Hills, Cypress, Hillside, Manitou, Redwood, Sunset and Winstead parks.
The city has conducted a post-launch survey, finding citizen suport of the program by a 2-1 margin.
Additionally, Boise animal control officers continue to monitor the off-leash parks for compliance. Since the implementation of the project, officers have issued 199 citations, the majority at Manitou, Sunset and Winstead parks. Dog owners can be ticketed for not honoring the specific off-leash hours or for not picking up after pets.
