A death warrant was issued today, ordering Paul Ezra Rhoades be executed for killing two people in Blackfoot in 1987 and Idaho Falls in 1988. Rhodes is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Friday, Nov. 18.
Rhoades was convicted of robbery, kidnapping and murder for a Feb. 28, 1987, incident in which he kidnapped Stacy Baldwin, a clerk, from a Blackfoot convenience store. She was fatally shot. Rhoades was also convicted of robbery, kidnapping, rape and murder for a 1988 incident. Rhoades kidnapped Susan Michelbacher from an Idaho Falls supermarket parking lot. She was raped and murdered.
On Oct. 11, the U.S. Supreme Court denied Rhoades' petition for certiorari (seeking judicial review).
Rhoades is set for execution at the Idaho Maximum Security Facility, south of Boise.
