The release of accused murderer Ernesto Bustamante's U of I personnel records should occur sometime this coming week.
Bustamente, a former University of Idaho professor, committed suicide on Aug. 22 following the murder of U of I graduate student Katy Benoit. Prosecutors said Bustamante killed Benoit "with premeditation and with malice."
Benoit's family publicly called on the U of I to disclose everything it knew about the relationship.
"Katy had shared with us details about her issues with Ernesto Bustamante," read a family statement. "She was deeply alarmed by Bustamante's behavior and rhetoric."
On Oct. 4, Second District Judge John Stegner ruled confidentiality ended with Bustamante's death.
University of Idaho officials said the sheer volume of documents, including around 70,000 emails, was overwhelming.
