North Idaho Jail Charges For More Inmate Visits

Posted By on Thu, Oct 27, 2011 at 9:27 AM

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that a north Idaho county will allow inmates to get more visits a week, if they or their loved ones are willing to pay for it.

The Kootenai County jail has begun a program that expands prisoner visitations beyond the traditional two a week. If family or friends want to meet more with inmates, they have to pay 25 cents per minute or $7.50 per half hour. Half of the fees are expected to go toward funding new technology that expedites the sign-up process required to visit an inmate at the county jail.
