Pat Takasugi, two-term Idaho legislator and former director of the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, died late Sunday, following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Takasugi, 62, missed the entire 2011 legislative session while undergoing treatments for a rare form of appendix cancer. He was replaced by Gayle Batt, who had served as Takasugi's campaign manager.
A longtime Wilder-area resident, Takasugi represented District 10 in the Idaho House. Previously, he served as ISDA director from 1996 through December 2006. He was first appointed by Gov. Phil Batt and reappointed by Govs. Dirk Kempthorne in 1998 and Jim Risch in 2006.
