Another Idahoan Killed in Lucky Mine Accident

Posted By on Sun, Nov 20, 2011 at 10:24 AM

For the second time in seven months, the small town of Mullan is mourning the loss of one of its own, a victim to another mining accident.

Brandon Gray, 26, died Saturday from injuries he suffered Thursday while working at Hecla's Lucky Friday Mine in Idaho's panhandle. The accident comes less than a year after Larry Marek, also of Mullan, was killed when his work area caved in at the Lucky Friday Mine. Following the April accident, federal investigators cited unsafe work practices at the Lucky Friday mine.

Federal teams from the Mine Safety and Health Administration are investigating the most recent accident.
