Boise developer Mark Rivers, the man behind downtown's BoDo area, is spending the holiday at his "second home" in Niagara Falls, N.Y., as he puts the finishing touches on his newest big-scale production: a 37-day holiday market in the honeymoon capital of the world. Rivers calls the market—which will feature scores of outdoor artisans and retailers, a gourmet food hall, concerts and outdoor skating—the "anti-mall."
The event is modeled after outdoor holiday markets traditionally found in Europe. The Niagara Falls market opens Friday, Nov. 25. In September, Rivers estimated that the entire project would cost $900,000.
