Dow Begins Monday With Holiday Hangover

Posted By on Sun, Nov 27, 2011 at 9:08 AM

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and Standards and Poors Index will try to rebound Monday morning following their worst Thanksgiving week since the Great Depression on a percentage basis.

Hewlett-Packard and Chevron, both of which dropped 1.5 percent, led the Dow into negative territory on Friday. The S&P and NASDAQ also ended lower, logging a seventh consecutive decline.

Meanwhile Black Friday's kickoff to the holiday shopping season didn't translate well for Macy's, which dropped .37 percent and Best Buy, which dropped .31 percent.

The coming week will feature several important economic indicators, including new home sales on Monday, the consumer confidence index on Tuesday and new unemployment numbers on Friday.
