An Idaho Falls television station confirmed that the body of 28-year-old U.S. Army Cpl. Ryan Sharp is expected to be flown home to eastern Idaho later this week, after a special military service in Delaware. Sharp died Saturday in a German military hospital from injuries caused by an IED bomb blast in Afghanistan.

KIFI-TV reported that Sharp was deployed to Kandahar province as part of his third and final tour for the Army. Sharp was flown to Germany following injuries to his legs, shoulder and head. He is survived by two daughters who are 6 and 8 years old. A memorial fund has been established in Sharp's name to help assist his children.
