Among all of the holiday cheer, Christmas also saw some sadness this past weekend.
Between Friday, Dec. 23, and Sunday, Dec. 25, 17 people were arrested in Ada County for driving while intoxicated. Boise Police made 14 of the arrests.
Additionally, Boise Police arrested a man on domestic battery following a family fight at a home in a Cloverdale Road neighborhood early Saturday. The suspect also admitted to driving drunk before he got home. Boise police said that the suspect had already been convicted of three previous DUIs.
Perhaps the most troubling arrest was that of a 23-year-old Boise woman, charged with abandoning her toddler. While police said they weren't certain of the child's age, they did accuse the woman of leaving the little one with an acquaintance on Dec. 18, saying she would be back in an hour. She never returned and was arrested Friday afternoon. The child is in the protective custody of Health and Welfare.
