Dems Propose Eight-Member Ethics Commission

Posted By on Thu, Jan 12, 2012 at 2:30 PM

Today Idaho Democrats unveiled a formal proposal for an eight-member ethics commission for the Legislature.

Idaho Dems said the eight-member panel would be made up of two Republicans and two Democrats, from both the House and Senate.

Calls for ethics reforms have come in the wake of Rep. Phil Hart and his alleged tax dodging, as well as news that senators John McGee and Curt McKenzie pocketed extra per diem cash they received from the Legislature.

Last week, Republican House Speaker Lawerence Denney said he would support creating an independent commission to review alleged ethics violations.
