education Ex-Dems Chief Partners With Otter to Fight for Luna Laws

He was a reporter (managing editor for Idaho Business Review), executive director of the Idaho Democratic Party and aide and campaign manager for former Democratic Congressman Walt Minnick. Today, John Foster is managing the Boise office for Strategies 360, a Seattle-based public affairs firm. And now, Foster is aligning himself with Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter to assist in the pushback against the ballot initiatives to overturn the so-called "Luna laws," the controversial package of education reforms attached to Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna.
The Associated Press' Jess Bonner reports that Otter "has enlisted the help" of Foster, "who is serving as an unpaid adviser to the governor's office leading up to the referendum." Foster said his work for the governor's office will be on his own time and his firm is not involved.
"I was pleased to be asked by the governor to be involved," Foster told the AP. "It's a bipartisan issue and one that's important to me personally."

Vomit. Seriously? When will we realize that high stakes testing is the worst possible way to ensure an educated populace? There is NO reliable research that backs it up. Pay for performance sounds nice, but in reality it's not been shown to work either. Oh, and let's cripple the teachers unions... you know, the only ones who are looking out for them. That guy isn't a Democrat. That guy is an opportunistic jerkwad. This makes me sick.
