Hammond To Vacate, Nonini to Run For District 5 Senate Seat

Posted by George Prentice on Sun, Feb 5, 2012 at 10:45 AM

Coeur d'Alene Sen. Jim Hammond has announced that he's not interested in returning to the Idaho Legislature, wanting instead to spend more time with his wife, kids and grandkids. Hammond, a former Post Falls mayor and city administrator and current three-term legislator, said he'll be applying for the soon-to-be-vacant presidency of North Idaho College. The college's current president, Priscilla Bell, will be retiring later this year.

Coeur d'Alene Rep. Bob Nonini wasted no time time in announcing that he would run for Hammond's District 5 Senate seat. Nonini is currently serving his fourth term in the Idaho House.
