Rep. Leon Smith Won't Seek Re-election

Posted by George Prentice on Fri, Feb 10, 2012 at 9:05 AM

Twin Falls Republican Rep. Leon Smith is the latest Idaho legislator to announce that he won't be returning to the Statehouse next year.

The seven-term member of the Idaho House serves on the Judiciary, Rules and Administration, Revenue and Taxation, and Transportation and Defense committees. Smith is known as a Republican who doesn't always tow the party line. During the 2011 session, he voted against the GOP majority on education reform and closed primaries.

Twin Falls City Councilman Lance Clow has already announced that he will run for Smith's seat, representing District 24.
