The Trice T trike is valued at more than $3,500.

The timing couldn't be worse. As Boise approaches its 2012 Bike Week, one young Boise man with special needs is without his wheels, and the special bicycle is his only mode of transportation.

Boise Police investigate hundreds of incidents of missing or stolen bikes every year, but law enforcement is asking for extra help in their investigation into the theft of a three-wheeled recumbent bicycle - called a "trike" - that was taken from a residence in the area of East Boise Avenue and South Geckler Lane. The trike had been locked to a tree at the young man's home.

The trike is a Trice T, manufactured by Inspired Cycle Engineering. The three-wheeler has a mesh seat and is blue with red and gray accents and sports two side-view mirrors. The trike is valued at more than $3,500.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
