Public Utilities Commission Approves Idaho Power Rate Change

Posted By on Sun, Jun 3, 2012 at 10:29 AM

To offset $70 million in extra costs, the Public Utilities Commission on Friday, June 1, approved Idaho Power's request for a series of rate adjustments.

Those adjustments, representing seven separate cases, constitute a 0.9 percent increase for all customer classes, while residential customers will see a reduction of almost 0.34 percent.

Rates are adjusted to offset investment in new energy options, as well as account for aging infrastructure making power more costly. Variances also come from river flows used by hydroelectric dams and the amount of wind generated at wind farms.
