McCall Beach to Impose Fourth of July Quota

Posted By on Fri, Jun 22, 2012 at 9:32 AM

Following years of arrests and citations for rowdy and/or drunken behavior, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation has decided to cap Fourth of July partiers at North Beach in McCall at 1,000.

This morning's McCall Star News reports that last year's crowd at North Beach, which is part of Ponderosa State Park, swelled to 1,500 on July 4, 2011, and as many as 2,000 in previous years.

A statement from Idaho Parks and Rec indicates that the quota is designed "to protect the natural resources on and around the beach."

Between 2007-2009, McCall police and state park personnel were forced to clear the beach because of unruly behavior, but crowds were relatively well-behaved over the past couple of years.
