Boise firefighters said they got lucky this Independence Day with fireworks-related fires, when compared to previous Fourths of July.
“We were fortunate this year to be able to limit these fires’ sizes and not see significant property losses,” said Romeo Gervais, deputy chief-fire marshal. “We always stress the importance of using fireworks safely, and these fires, however small, show the importance of listening to that advice.”
In all, Boise Fire Department crews were called to 15 fires throughout July 4, seven of them directly attributed to fireworks. The cause could not be determined for six of the blazes, and the two remaining fires were not related to fireworks.
