The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued an orange air-quality alert for today.
According to AIRNow, today's AQI of 105 means conditions are expected to be "unhealthy for sensitive groups," including children, older adults and people with heart or lung disease. Conditions will persist until midweek, when west-northwest winds are expected to clear the air, introducing clearer evenings.
As for temperatures, the National Weather Service is forecasting highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Meanwhile, in central Idaho, smoke from the Halstead, Mustang and Trinity Ridge fires has pushed unhealthy air into the cities of Sun Valley, Stanley and Challis. An air-quality alert in that region remains in effect until further notice.
