When Idaho's institutions of higher learning begin classes in August, they have a rough estimate of student populations; some students drop in, just as many drop out. But by late September, they have a more firm number.

This morning, the College of Idaho announced that its current student body is a record-setter, with 1,059 students enrolled for the 2012-2013 school year. That's an increase of just under 2 percent and topping the previous high of 1,055 students in 2010-2011.

The C of I also announced that it has a record-setting number of international students this fall: 107 students representing 53 countries.

"With one in 10 students coming from another country, C of I students are constantly interacting with people from other cultures," said Brain Bava, dean of enrollment management. "That understanding of other peoples and perspectives is a crucial in a global economy.”
