Boise State Accepts NCAA Ruling, Loss of Scholarships

Posted By on Thu, Oct 11, 2012 at 9:17 AM

Saying that he was "disappointed in the outcome and the lack of meaningful review," Boise State President Bob Kustra announced late Wednesday that the university would accept the NCAA Committee on Infractions' ruling to strip Boise State of nine scholarships over three years.

The NCAA decision, and Boise State's acceptance, ends an investigation that found the university was guilty of several violations in five sports between 2004 and 2009. Among other allegations, Boise State was cited for a lack of institutional control.

“The Infractions Appeals Committee favorably recognized that Boise State had a compelling case for reconsideration of an appropriate penalty,” said Kustra. “However, the Committee on Infractions disregarded the ruling. We will abide by the decision."
