Garden City Homeowner Says Cougar Attacked Pet

Posted By on Mon, Oct 22, 2012 at 1:26 PM

A spokesman for the USDA Wildlife Services says the agency is pretty certain the mountain lion that attacked a pet in Garden City is the same lion spotted in and around Boise for the past few weeks.

A Garden City homeowner said his dog required surgery after being attacked by a mountain lion near East Eddy Place in Garden City recently. The homeowner said the lion came into his back yard. The Meadow Creek Homeowners Association is cautioning neighbors regarding the incident.

Boise Police have been dispatched to areas near the Greenbelt for the past three weeks, following a series of mountain lion sightings near the Boise River.

Sightings include:
ParkCenter Boulevard near East Spring Meadow Lane Oct. 10
Surprise Way near Warm Springs Avenue Oct. 10
31st and Pleasanton streets Oct. 5
The Greenbelt east of Veterans Memorial Parkway Oct. 4
The Greenbelt near the Hilton Garden Inn Oct. 4
The Greenbelt near Glenwood bridge Oct. 3
