Early Ada Voters Cast More Than 19,000 Ballots

There are just three days left of news from the polls ahead of Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Those anxious to cast a ballot lined up at Ada County Board of Elections Friday, before early voting officially ended at 5 p.m., but not before more than 19,000 voters cast their ballots.

By Nov. 1, 17,803 ballots had been cast, with an additional 1,920 voters on Nov. 2, pushing the total to 19,723. According to Chief Deputy Clerk Phil McGrane, a line stretched out the doors, through the parking lot and down the sidewalk that day.

That number shattered the previous record, set in 2008, when 15,741 people in Ada County voted early.

But voters still have a chance to head to the polls come Election Day, while those voting absentee are encouraged to return their ballots no later than 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6. So far, Ada County has had fewer absentee ballot returns compared to this time in previous years.
