Bend, Ore.-based 10 Barrel Brewing Company could tap a Boise satellite, once caught up in red tape, as early as March 2013.

In August, 10 Barrel ran up against state Alcohol Beverage Control laws that put the brewery's plans for a brewpub in downtown Boise on hold. Co-owner Garrett Wales said today that the issue had been resolved, though the solution wasn't ideal.

"We're giving up our certificate of approval," said Wales. "What that does is, it prevents the concerns that are addressed by the laws that were causing the sticking point in the first place, bringing beer from out of the state."

Wales said the brewery sat down with the Idaho State Attorney General's Office, Idaho State Police's Alcohol Beverage Control, the planned location's landlords, the Idaho Department of Lands and the office of Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter.

10 Barrel will sell its product to an Oregon distributor, which can bring 10 Barrel beer brewed in the Beaver State to Idaho. 10 Barrel will be allowed to brew beer at both Idaho and Oregon locations, a goal of the new location since the project began.

John Treinen, construction manager for CSDI Construction, said tenant improvements within the location at 826 Bannock St. will begin today, with a scheduled spring completion date.
