A truck carrying thousands of pounds of food rolled into Boise this morning (Saturday, Dec. 8), to benefit the Idaho Foodbank as part of this year's Community Cares Day, broadcast by KTVB Channel 7.

More than 30,000 pounds of food from Tyson Foods, Inc. and Lift Up America contributed to the event, which takes the form of a four-hour special televised by KTVB.

The fourth annual Community Cares Day, according to food bank officials, aids the organization's yearlong mission to distribute food to Idaho families across the state through a network of more than 210 community-based partners, serving an average of 116,000 people per month.

According to Tyson, the company has donated near 90 million pounds of food since 2000, in partnership with Lift Up America, Food Research and Action Center, Feeding America, Share our Strength and the League of United Latin American Citizens.
