Christmas Forecast: Let it Snow ... Let it Snow

Posted By on Sun, Dec 23, 2012 at 10:21 AM

Inbound and outbound flights at the Boise Airport were on time this morning as the holiday travel madness hit full throttle.

Snow showers were expected to continue in the Treasure Valley Sunday, with an overnight low expected to be near freezing. A 30 percent chance of snow is forecast for Christmas Eve, with highs in the mid 30s and lows near 20.

Meanwhile a winter weather advisory continues for much of southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon Sunday afternoon and into Monday. Three to 7 inches of snow are expected at elevations above 7,000 feet.

A large upper level storm off the Pacific Coast is expected to move inland Sunday and spread snow through much of the region, moving into Idaho by Sunday evening.

Another storm is expected to move into Idaho's west-central and Boise Mountains communities on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, brining another 3 to 6 inches of new snow, with an additional 3 inches expected on Wednesday.
