Emergency Crews Contain Gasoline Spill on Curtis Road

Posted By on Wed, Jan 9, 2013 at 9:39 AM

This morning's rush hour, already challenged by slush-filled roadways, was made a bit more difficult when a fuel spill tangled traffic on the 700 block of Curtis Road.

Boise Fire Department officials said a mechanical failure at a fuel farm resulted in a leak. Officials quickly closed off isolation valves, containing the spill within a pit around the farm. Emergency responders said the fuel spill was completely contained by 9 a.m. The spill involved more than 1,000 gallons of gasoline. Private cleanup crews were on the way to deal with the spill.

Firefighters said the extreme cold weather helped to contain the fuel vapors during the spill.
