Nathaniel Bartholomew, 19, pleaded guilty to third degree arson.

Prosecutors confirm that 19-year-old Nathaniel Bartholomew, a former Boise County firefighter, pleaded guilty Thursday, Jan. 10, to purposely setting the September Karney Fire that scorched more than 400 acres and threatened up to 100 homes.

"We believe that the suspect was trying to get a relative's attention by starting the fire," Boise County Undersheriff Dale Rogers told Citydesk in September. Rogers confirmed that Bartholomew's father is also a Boise County firefighter.

Bartholomew faces up to 10 years in prison for a felony count of third degree arson. Bartholomew will be sentenced in Boise County court on Tuesday, March 14.

Bartholomew was a member of the Clear Creek volunteer fire department and lived in the Robie Creek region.

Fire officials said that the pricetag for battling the Karney blaze totaled more than $2 million.
