Idaho Man Arrested for SpongeBob Caper

Tell people in Coeur d'Alene that 24-year-old Kyle Campbell is locked up in the Kootenai County Jail on robbery charges, and you might get a blank stare. Tell them that he's the accused SpongeBob bandit and they'll know what you're talking about.

Coeur d'Alene Police sent out a bizarre bulletin Jan. 31, when they said they needed help finding an armed suspect who held up a drive-up coffee booth. The bandit was wearing a SpongeBob SquarePants mask.

Acting on a tip, law enforcement searched the Worley home of Campbell and found a key piece of evidence: a SpongeBob mask. Coeur d'Alene Police were assisted in the investigation by Kootenai County deputies and Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police.
