IDOC Orders State Police Probe of Private Prison's Staffing Records

Posted By on Tue, Feb 5, 2013 at 1:01 PM

In a blockbuster move, Idaho Department of Correction Director Brent Reinke announced today that he wants a formal investigation of "discrepancies in records submitted to the Department regarding staffing levels at Idaho Correction Center," the controversial private prison facility managed by the Corrections Corporation of America.

Reinke has called on the Idaho State Police to conduct the investigation:

"While conducting a staffing audit to verify contractual obligations were met, the department discovered potential anomalies. IDOC has asked ISP to conduct an independent investigation and audit of these records to determine the extent of the problem and any potential violation of state law."

A spokesman for CCA said the company is cooperating with the investigation and has hired it own independent investigator to review ICC procedures.
