Can You Hear Me Now? CenturyLink Workers Poised to Hit Picket Lines

Posted By on Thu, Feb 14, 2013 at 9:34 AM

In October 2012, CenturyLink approved a temporary agreement so that its unionized workers could remain on the job while negotiating a new contract.

But now, negotiations have apparently fallen apart.

The Communications Workers of America announced this morning that its executive board has been authorized to set a strike date.

CWA representatives say they want to bring more jobs back to the United States while CenturyLink officials say they face skyrocketing health care premiums and need to adjust their benefit package.

Some 13,000 workers across 13 states are affected, including hundreds of CenturyLink employees in the Treasure Valley. The employees include customer service agents, network technicians and Internet support workers.
