Boise Police Dialing Up Presence During Treefort But Don't Expect a 'Hotbed of Issues'

Today marks the second day of Boise's multi-venue Treefort Music Festival, tasking the Boise Police Department with providing a bit more presence in the downtown area.

“We do our best to keep the peace,” BPD spokesman Charles McClure told Boise Weekly. “I don’t know that it’s a hotbed for issues."

Although they may not expect excessive issues, McClure told BW that the department has recruited extra help to help festival organizers with security. But he was quick to add that tax dollars aren’t used to pay for the extra help.

“Additionally, we'll have two extra of our own officers,” McClure said, adding that BPD would have its "normal weekend staff on duty" in Boise's downtown.
